Drug Addict Death

Drug Addiction and Death

Choices: Recovery, Jails, institutions, and Death!

 drug abuse,poems,dead,death,addict

The story below was sent to me by a recovering addict who lost her husband to the disease of addiction. It is my hope that by reading this many of you that may use today might think twice as this disease is still taking lives and always will.

We all have choices today, please make your choices wisely as making the wrong decisions concerning using drugs and alcohol may lead to your own death. Lets all try to use this addicts hopes, strengths, and fears as a learning tool so that maybe they didn't die in vain and we can learn from their mistakes.

Hi  my name is Elka and I am  recovering addict. My husband was also an addict who died from this disease on Oct. 9, 2004.   I have been clean for 2 /12 years. My husband tried many times to get this program but continued to fail until it took his life. He left behind two young children as well as me.  My husband was living in a halfway house at the time of his death.

While  picking up his belongings I came a cross a notebook filled with poems he wrote while he was  trying to get himself clean.   I see by his writing that he had the DESIRE to get clean,... but as we know sometimes people just don't get it.   I am sending two of  my favorite writings that he wrote before his death. Thank you very much for this wonderful website.

GOD'S Children

Talk to your daughters,

Talk to your sons.

This disease goes after everyone.

Take them to church,

Teach them to pray.

When they are asked to do drugs, tell them to walk away.

Tell them you love them.

Take their hand.

Teach them to be strong and take a stand.

You know its too late, if they try just one.

So keep your eyes on your daughters and sons.

KEN P.

CHOICES

You say you are  through.

You say you will stop, and then hit the streets ready to cop.

What did I you do?

What did you say?

You'll do just one and it all will be okay.

You do have friends, friends that care

So when you think about using "Don't you dare"

Life is about choices, the  choice you make.

You better think twice before it is too late.

Ken P.

This disease took Ken's life on Oct. 9, 2004

We all have another relapse in us, but do we have a recovery?
Please think twice before using drugs and alcohol.
