"Come fly with me," she whispers in your ear,
"Shut out all those things you don't want to hear."
She promises a journey beyond your wildest dreams,
And says that you and she are an unstoppable team.
"Just a little for fun", and she even says, "Please".
"It won't hurt and it helps put you at ease.
Other people become addicted, it can't happen to you,
You're smarter than that, you'll only have a few."
So you fall for her line, but you start out slow,
You have just a little and you bask in the glow.
The next time you find it takes a little more,
But you're not worried, after all, you know the score.
What happened to the job and why is the family throwing rocks,
They won't even speak and--my goodness! They've even changed the locks.
So you had to take some of their things to pawn,
You'll get them back, they're not really gone.
You're sick and you're broke and there's no one to care,
You've used up everyone and taken more than they can bear.
You remember the sweet voice of addiction when she first said, "Hi",
And realize that you're just another victim of her death-dealing lie.
