My niece is on Methadone and has been for 10 months. She has a personality
or mood disorder also. She is terrified of going off methadone. Addicted to
Opiates, she has used Cocaine while on Methadone.
She cannot afford the methadone treatment ($12/day) and I cannot afford to
pay for; plus the clinic she goes to is a 40 mile one way drive.
I feel also that she is trading one addiction for another, but she feels the
only way she will not use opiates is to be on methadone, until she can
hopefully find successful treatment for her mental disorder, which is
probably the root cause of her addiction.
Do you have any advice on how to handle this kind of situation?
There has been a lot of success with a new drug
called Suboxone go online and do some research on this drug. It is no meant
to be taken long term, (Neither is Methadone in my opinion) and it takes a
lot of pain out of the withdrawals.
