The Dunderburg rests in water that is deeper than the sport diving limit
and is the reason that there are so many artifacts still on the ship. Many
of the ships in the Great Lakes are missing some of their original items
due to divers taking them home for souvenirs. Most of these wrecks are
protected now by law making it illegal to remove anything from the
Michigan Bottom Lands with jail time and stiff fines for offenders, not to
mention the embarrassment you'll suffer in the eyes of the diving
community..
Usually by the time a diver learns the skills necessary
to dive the Dunderburg they have also learned the respect to leave these
artifacts alone for other divers to enjoy. "Take nothing but
pictures, and leave nothing but bubbles." |
