This is about 500 feet before the YMCA exit and if you
look just below center and to the left you will see a small spot of
green that is my tank. These chunks of floating ice that are as big as I
am and bigger. On certain day's we have to be extra careful not to get
trapped in heavy ice flows. Many days due to the local wind conditions
you may be able to dive from the Canadian shore and not on the American
side and vise versa.
On this particular dive this ice caused a problem for
me when I was on the surface. As large chunks of ice were bumping into
me one of them hit my alternate air regulator and caused a free flow
that in turn froze open and emptied my main tank. |
